This 5-day NYC Street Photography workshop takes place from 10-14 October and is led by local photographer Nina Welch-Kling (@ninakling, the 6 Diptychs shown here are by Nina) and Giedo van der Zwan. This workshop is open to a maximum of 6 participants. Total price of the workshop is €1,200. Food and accommodation is not included.
About the workshop
During 5 intensive days, we'll explore the city’s amazing variety of neighborhoods with its typical daily life with our camera, in beautiful October light, backed by the amazing local knowledge and photographic experience of Nina Welch-Kling.
Every day, we'll visit a different part of the city: from the dense energy of Midtown Manhattan, shooting along Fifth Avenue, around landmarks like St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center and Grand Central Terminal, before diving into the wonderful chaos of Times Square.
On another day we head south to Lower Manhattan—photographing the historic streets around Wall Street, Trinity Church, and the striking architecture of the World Trade Center Oculus and 9/11 Memorial. And we take (multiple!) ferry rides to and from Staten island, as the trip itself offers many opportunities for street photographers.
We’ll explore the vibrant street life around Union Square and Washington Square Park, and we wander through the characterful streets of Greenwich Village. Of course we'll spend time In SoHo, Chinatown and Little Italy, and hidden alleyways like Doyers Street.
On the west side, we photograph along the elevated High Line, through the Meatpacking District, and into the modern architecture of Hudson Yards.
Throughout the workshop, we alternate shooting with in-depth review and feedback sessions to refine your work and develop your skills and portfolio. There will also be dedicated one-on-one guidance by Nina and Giedo on the street, giving you personal input when it matters most.
